In 1959 the Lucknow estate that was built by Tom Plante was purchased, renamed to Castle in the Clouds, and opened to the public for tours and hiking. The Lucknow mansion is an unusual example of Arts and Crafts architecture in New England, expressing the aesthetic movement’s philosophy of living in harmony with nature. Designed by architect J. Williams Beal of Boston, the mansion was built with cutting-edge materials at the time like steel beams, poured concrete, and terra cotta architectural blocks.  A tour of the home as well as the grounds will give you an experience to remember. We will make a stop for lunch (on your own) before heading up to the property.

Gorham Recreation - Turkeys' to Trotters' Couch to 5k Program Join the Gorham Recreation Department for an 8-week Couch to 5k style training program designed to help you cross the finish line! Starting in October and finishing in November with the 25th Annual Burn Off The Turkey 5k!Who: Run/Walk training for folks who are new to running, walkers who are looking to improve fitness and complete a 5K, or for runners looking to ease back into training! When: Starting Monday & Thursday evenings at 5:15pm for first 4 weeks then weekly on Thursday evenings for last 4 weeks. Where: Gorham Recreation Department - We will meet in the parking lot of the Gorham Rec and warm up in Robie Park before heading out on a mix of road and trails. How Much: $50 for 8 week program (includes entry into Target Race - 25th Annual Burn Off the Turkey 5k) Target Race: Burn Off The Turkey 5k - Saturday, November 26th  Program includes 12 training sessions, a training plan, entry into the target race on November 26th which includes a race shirt, motivation to keep you moving and we will discuss topics such as nutrition, hydration, choosing the right gear, and how to avoid injury.Questions? Join us for a musical adventure of songs and movement!  For young students who have an interest in music & singing or who would like to broaden their  horizons to the world of music. We will sing fun autumn songs, dance like leaves, play musical instruments, & twirl with scarves, all while learning some new musical foundations like rhythm & dynamics!  Our final meeting will include a fun "performance" for families and friends. For children ages 4-9. Let's join together in song!   Music instructor Emily Lafleur is a public-school music teacher who is currently a stay-at-home mom. She has taught band, general music, & choir and loves to bring out the voices of all children!  She lives in Gorham, teaches private clarinet lessons, and loves to sing loudly for her kids!

If you want to prevent, stop or turn around this increasingly prevalent disease, then this is the course for you! Together we will explore many scientifically proven treatment options to empower you to take back your bone health. All references used will be provided. Over the 4 sessions we will explore: Why this disease is currently so prevalent even if you’re “healthy”. Behaviors and habits that increase your risk for Osteoporosis Hidden Nutritional components that weaken and strengthen your bones  The power of exercises proven to help and those to avoid  An opportunity to practice the 10 yoga poses to build bone health What, when, how often and which supplements you need to consider taking.  Please wear exercise clothing and bring a yoga mat and soft belt or strap and yoga block if you have them to each session. Those that don’t will be provided one to use.

Gorham Recreation - Turkeys' to Trotters' Couch to 5k Program Join the Gorham Recreation Department for an 8-week Couch to 5k style training program designed to help you cross the finish line! Starting in October and finishing in November with the 25th Annual Burn Off The Turkey 5k!Who: Run/Walk training for folks who are new to running, walkers who are looking to improve fitness and complete a 5K, or for runners looking to ease back into training! When: Starting Monday & Thursday evenings at 5:15pm for first 4 weeks then weekly on Thursday evenings for last 4 weeks. Where: Gorham Recreation Department - We will meet in the parking lot of the Gorham Rec and warm up in Robie Park before heading out on a mix of road and trails. How Much: $50 for 8 week program (includes entry into Target Race - 25th Annual Burn Off the Turkey 5k) Target Race: Burn Off The Turkey 5k - Saturday, November 26th  Program includes 12 training sessions, a training plan, entry into the target race on November 26th which includes a race shirt, motivation to keep you moving and we will discuss topics such as nutrition, hydration, choosing the right gear, and how to avoid injury.Questions? Together we will explore many scientifically proven treatment options to empower you to take back your bone health. All references used will be provided. Over the 4 sessions we will explore: Why this disease is currently so prevalent even if you’re “healthy”. Behaviors and habits that increase your risk for Osteoporosis Hidden Nutritional components that weaken and strengthen your bones  The power of exercises proven to help and those to avoid  An opportunity to practice the 10 yoga poses to build bone health What, when, how often and which supplements you need to consider taking.  Please wear exercise clothing and bring a yoga mat and soft belt or strap and yoga block if you have them to each session. Those that don’t will be provided one to use.

Gorham Recreation - Turkeys' to Trotters' Couch to 5k Program Join the Gorham Recreation Department for an 8-week Couch to 5k style training program designed to help you cross the finish line! Starting in October and finishing in November with the 25th Annual Burn Off The Turkey 5k!Who: Run/Walk training for folks who are new to running, walkers who are looking to improve fitness and complete a 5K, or for runners looking to ease back into training! When: Starting Monday & Thursday evenings at 5:15pm for first 4 weeks then weekly on Thursday evenings for last 4 weeks. Where: Gorham Recreation Department - We will meet in the parking lot of the Gorham Rec and warm up in Robie Park before heading out on a mix of road and trails. How Much: $50 for 8 week program (includes entry into Target Race - 25th Annual Burn Off the Turkey 5k) Target Race: Burn Off The Turkey 5k - Saturday, November 26th  Program includes 12 training sessions, a training plan, entry into the target race on November 26th which includes a race shirt, motivation to keep you moving and we will discuss topics such as nutrition, hydration, choosing the right gear, and how to avoid injury.Questions? We will set up several activity sites including mats for tumbling, as well as balls and other toys for kids 5 years old and under. Shaw Gym, 9:30am - 11:30amWednesdays and Fridays beginning September 14th$2 per visit or purchase a punch pass for $20 and will get you 12 visits!**There will be no Kiddie Gym on days where there is no school due to vacation, holiday, snow days etc.Kiddie Gym will close for the season on March 31, 2023.

Shaw open gym for Middle school and High school aged students.Friday afternoons, 2:00 PM- 4:00 PMA signed liability waiver must completed at the front desk of the Recreation office upon arrival.
