July is National Parks and Recreation Month, held annually during the month of July. Every day, in communities across the country, those who work in parks and recreation are providing essential services and making their communities better places to live, work and play. The mission of this event is to encourage families to get outdoors and enjoy a camping experience in their own backyard or even in the living room!
Join the Gorham Parks and Recreation Department and take part of something special! The Maine Recreation and Park Association, along with more than 25 Parks and Recreation Departments throughout the state, have planned the 3rd Annual “Maine Backyard Campout”, taking place the weekend of July 14th-16th.
All you need to do to participate is post a picture of your backyard or livingroom camp set up and post it to social media using #Gorhambackyardcampout. Top 3 most creative camp set-ups will win special prizes!
