Come out and join Gorham Recreation for the upcoming basketball season!

These programs are run by volunteer coaches who work closely with the kids to help them improve their skills and build self esteem. 

Emphasis is placed on teaching sportsmanship, FUNdamentals rules of the game with safety being our priority.

Without our volunteer coaches, these programs cannot be offered.  Please consider volunteering to coach. We have numerous tools for you to access at the Rec department to make coaching easy and stress free….or almost!  Go ahead and take on the clipboard, Coach!  You’ll be glad you did.

Late registrations will not be guaranteed a shirt! A late fee will be applied, as well. Please register on time!
Grades K-2 register before 12/14/2024
Grades 3-12 register before 11/16/2024


Rec Divisions are broken down into the following:
Kindergarten (Coed)
1st/2nd Grade Boys
1st/2nd Grade Girls
3rd/4th Grade Boys
3rd/4th Grade Girls
5th/6th Grade Boys
5th/6th Grade Girls
7th/8th Grade Boys (for kids that DO NOT PLAY for GMS TEAMS)
9th-12th Grade Boys (for kids that DO NOT PLAY for GHS TEAMS)

Teams and practice days will be assigned when registration closes.

Rec Youth Basketball
Kindergarten: Practices and Games on Saturdays beginning 1/11/2025

1st/2nd Boys: 1 weekday practice and Games on Saturdays
Practices start week of 1/6/2024 with the first game being 1/11/2025

1st/2nd Girls: 1 weekday practice and Games on Saturdays
Practices start week of 1/6/2024 with the first game being 1/11/2025

3rd/4th Boys: 1 weekday practice, Games on Saturdays starting in January
Practice starts week of 12/2/2024. Skills and Drills Clinics on Saturdays in December starting 12/7/2024
(practices the week of 12/16/2024 is up to the team/coach. No games or practices 12/23/2024 through 1/3/2025)

3rd/4th Girls: 1 weekday practice, Games on Saturdays starting in January
Practice starts week of 12/2/2024. Skills and Drills Clinics on Saturdays in December starting 12/7/2024
(practices the week of 12/16/2024 is up to the team/coach. No games or practices 12/23/2024 through 1/3/2025)

5th/6th Boys: 1 weekday practice, Games on Saturdays
Practice starts week of 12/4/2023 with the first game being 12/9/2023
(practices the week of 12/18/2023 is up to the team/coach. No games or practices 12/23/2023 through 1/1/2024)
Depending upon the number of Rec teams we have, we may visit other Town's Rec for games as well.

5th/6th Girls: 1 weekday practice, Games on Saturdays starting in January

All Games are played in South Portland.

7th/8th Girls: 1 weekday practice per week. Scrimmages amongst themselves. Still looking for a league to enter. Hopefully games against other teams will come!

9th-12th Boys:1 weekday practice, 1 midweek game
Practice starts week of 12/2/2024
All Games are played in South Portland.
