Classroom days on Fridays
CITs will be scheduled to either Junior Camp or Kids camp . They will be dropped off and picked up at Gorham Municipal Center and will be transported to assigned camps by CIT leader.
Counselor in Training (CIT) is a Gorham Recreation program designed by our staff to give interested teens the opportunity to experience the fun, work, and rewards our summer camps have to offer while gaining valuable leadership and work experience.
C.I.T.’s will attend one day of classroom work, and spend three days assisting Gorham Recreation camp counselors with everyday tasks, field trips, and help implement summer camp activities. This C.I.T. program is intended to be an “on the job training” opportunity with weekly classroom workshops covering aspects of leadership, child supervision, creative programming, First Aid training and more. Although CIT’s are not guaranteed job placement, the participants will gain knowledge and skills that can be transferred to many different jobs and life situations.
Space is limited, and applications and interviews are required.
